RBI Defers New Bank Guarantee Rules for Brokers to July 2026
Three-Month Relief Granted to Capital Market Intermediaries; 50% Margin Norms to Continue

In a significant relief to stockbrokers and margin traders, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has officially deferred the implementation of its stringent new capital market funding norms. Originally slated to take effect on April 1, 2026, the compliance deadline has now been pushed to July 1, 2026 📩.
This three-month extension allows brokers to continue utilizing bank guarantees (BGs) backed by a 50% margin, rather than forcing an immediate transition to the heavily contested 100% collateral requirement.
