Markets Snap 3-Day Losing Streak as Iran Peace Proposal Eases Middle East Tensions; Sun Pharma & RIL Lead Gains

In a strong "Monday Motivation" for investors, the Indian equity benchmarks staged a spirited recovery on April 27, 2026, rebounding from last Fridayโs bloodbath. The NSE Nifty 50 climbed 194.75 points (0.81%) to settle at 24,092.70, while the BSE Sensex rose 639.43 points (0.83%) to close at 77,303.64.
The rally was primarily ignited by fresh reports of a diplomatic thaw, as Iran reportedly offered a formal plan to the U.S. to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. This news significantly cooled the geopolitical "risk premium," allowing domestic heavyweights and mid-caps to stage a broad-based recovery.
Despite the Nifty's gain, the commodities market remains on edge. Crude oil prices rose nearly 3% earlier in the day as actual shipments through the Strait remain limited while the "paperwork" for the peace proposal is vetted.
